Alarko To Submit Bids For Hes And Galataport Tenders
Alarko Holding General Coordinator, Ayhan Yavrucu, said that they had plans domestically and abroad particularly in the field of energy, and, accordingly, that they intended to submit bids for all coal fired and hydroelectric power plants within the framework of privatization.
A Target of 2 Thousand MW
Indicating that the aims of their growth strategies in the energy field are to raise production from the current 210 – 220 megawatt (MW) to 2.000 MW within the next 5 years, Yavrucu stated, “We are not interested in the privatization of Hamitabat since we already have a natural gas power plant. But we are interested in all coal fired and hydroelectric power plants apart from Hamitabat and are going to submit bids. This can be singlehandedly or as part of a consortium; we are flexible.” Yavrucu also said that Alarko Holding was also interested in the Galataport Project and would be participating in the tender for it: “We are interested in Galataport. We will participate in that tender. Negotiations are being conducted with both Turkish and foreign companies. Even without a consortium, we are prepared to participate alone”.
Hotels in Kazakhstan, İstanbul and the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus
Yavrucu stated that among the areas in which Alarko Holding does business, they were currently focusing on energy, tourism and contracting, and that, accordingly, they would start new land development, real estate and hotel projects this year. Indicating that they were investigating new project opportunities in Russia and Kazakhstan, Yavrucu said, “We plan on a hotel project particularly in Astana, Kazakhstan. In addition, we have plans for hotel and holiday villages in Northern Cyprus and İstanbul. We intend on beginning one of them this year”.
